Implementation and Control of Six-Phase Induction Motor Driven by a Three-Phase Supply

This paper is interested in implementing and controlling a modified six-phase induction motor (MSPIM) when fed from three-phase supply either via an inverter or with direct grid connection loaded by centrifugal pump. The main aims of using the MSPIM are to enhance reliability reduce torque pulsation. A three-to-six phase transformer has been designed, implemented, employed enable SPIM be driven supply. It preferable use transformers integrated on generate lower values harmonics steady-state error speed starting current because also it isolates primary circuit secondary, cost will compared design special inverter. Dynamic models SPIM, transformer, variable drive derived. Then, scalar (V/F) closed-loop control employed, results discussed.
